An unlikely inspiration...

Trump made us do it...

Okay, not literally.

But when we saw the news that the US planned to withdraw from the World Health Organization, it got us talking.

The numbers involved are enormous. The US has historically been one of the WHO’s biggest funders, supporting work tackling some of the world’s biggest health challenges.

We’re a six-month-old cider company in the South of England. Even after checking down the back of the sofa, we’re probably not going to be filling any international funding gaps.

But it did get us thinking about a much more relevant question:

What can a small business like Red Fin actually do?

So we did some sums, made some calls and decided to start somewhere.

Red Fin is helping protect 50 acres of threatened habitat

We’ve pledged to fund the protection of 50 acres of threatened habitat through the World Land Trust, supporting conservation in some of the world’s most biologically important places.

And rather than making it a one-off donation, we wanted it connected to the growth of Red Fin.

So every pint of Red Fin Cider enjoyed contributes towards that commitment.

The more Red Fin we pour, the more we can contribute.

We know 50 acres isn't going to solve climate change. We're also wary of making grand claims about sustainability when we're a small drinks business that still has its own environmental impact.

But we'd rather do something tangible, measure it and build on it than wait until we're big enough to pretend we can change the world.

So there we are.

50 acres. One pint at a time.

And yes, in a very roundabout way...
